Talking It was another Successful San Diego JK Event

First off, many thanks to Rob and Roze for hosting this event at their incredible home. Any California lot that can accommodate a dozen JKs in the front yard, with no one parking on the driveway, has a fully equipped shop in the huge garage and a swimming pool behind the garage is much larger than the average lot size of 5,000 sq ft, and I haven't even addressed the house. Rob and Rose also provided an endless supply of freshly smoked meat and Mojitos. We guests supplied side dishes, soft drinks and beer. The majority of SD JK events have the following hallmarks; families w/kids, dogs and a wide spread of age groups. This event was right on target. The biggest install event was Ty installing in new heavy duty "Ty Rod" and back up lights. There may have to be a phase II to finish up the light installation. We had a JK visitor from the flat-lands of Mississippi. Mitch, who is out here on a business trip from Tupelo, MS, came down from the LA area to see what we SoCal JK'ers call fun. Mitch told me the SoCal JK experience was incredible and that there was no such JK activity in MS. From what he said, he was the only JK activity in MS. Looking forward to the pizza party on the 24th.

Thanks for the kind words Fred. I'm sorry you missed out on the meats. (My fault for not attending to the smoker as I should have. Temp was a little low so the meat took longer) We need to have you back again soon. This was an awesome day! Like you said, friends and families are what we are all about here in SD. And not from San Diego (nice to meet you Mitch!) Thanks to everyone for bringing the side dishes. Pot lucks are a great way to go. Cuts down on the cost and we get to sample everyone’s favorite recipes!
Ty did get the "Ty Rod" installed, but after the quick run behind San Marcos, a second install party is needed. (Can anyone say driveshaft???)
Something I didn't do today was take any pictures. If anyone was wise enough to snap a few, please post them up.
Again, thanks to everyone for making it such a great day!

I agree Fred, Jeep folk rock.

Rob and Roze,

Thank you so much for having everyone over today. I know my pups had a blast with everyone. Your place is sweet, and the food was AWESOME! Had fun on the trails with everyone as well, but small correction, it wasn't his driveshaft, but rather his axle u-joints that practically exploded (Looks like San Marcos trails have a few places that should be called, "Uhh, hell no!", "Horrible Idea", etc)... No Bueno! That aside, it was a great time. Can't wait for the Suds-n-Grub in a couple of weeks...

Eric, Thanks for coming. The dogs were great today. Kinda reminded me of the fire evacuations a couple of years ago. We were released to come home, but our friends were still out. Needless to say, we ended up with at least 14 people, 10 dogs, a whole slew of cats, and a horse here at the house! You all are are always welcome, and we would dog sit your pups anyday!

Thanks ROB & ROZE for haivng us all over to your house . . . and for allowing me to 'take over" your workshop for my installs. You guys are the most gracious of hosts.

So, the install of the new ORO *straight* heavy duty tie rod:
The old tie rod removed:

The new bracket for the new tie rod (driver side)

The new bracket & tie rod (passenger side)

The new bracket & tie rod (driver side)

Adjusting the "Toe"

New Tie Rod installed

Some of the JKs that attended:

And, the axle shaft U-joint disaster:

The hill that did me in (the photo does not do it justice -- I was the only one *smart* enough to attempt to climb up it):

Default Thanks for a great Jeepers Day!

Well the 1st Install/Pool/BBQ was a success! Hopefully there will be more in the future because we all had a great opporunity to work on our Jeeps, take a dip in the pool if you wanted, eat some awesome smoked meat and take a scenic trail run in the local San Marcos mountains! Really have to thank Rob and Roze for being such gracious hosts! And Eric for being the trail leader and Ty for supplying the entertainment. Sorry Ty meant for the install not the Axle break...

For those of you who attended;
jkinlb (Mike)
Desert Fox (Fred)
SoCal2dr (Ty & Lisa)
Jumpnt (Rob)
wiebejammin (Roze)
Gryphon (Eric)
Taters JK (Brent & Heather)

rdneckjk (Mitch) <-- Special thanks to our long distance guest! I think someone mentioned something about adopting you into the SD Group! LOL

I'd like to say it was good hanging with you for the day and sharing in our passion for Jeeps and the Jeepers Lifestyle! Hope to see you all at the Suds & Grub or on a future trail run.

-Frank & Brenda
