Startup issue
I posted this in tech section but nobody seems to be on there right now......Having a problem getting my 13 JKUR started and it sure what it is. I went to use my remote start, the horn beeped twice as normal but no start, instead just a clicking type noise for a while...now no buttons on my remote work and the car won't start. Anyone have the issue and know what's up? I can't even start my Jeep to take it to the dealership.
Battery is good, everything turns on with acc but once I turn to start it, a sort of...idk how to explain, power down sound I guess then a click. None of the buttons on my remote work either I am having to manually unlock the door....thinking maybe something with the key
Could be several things, but here is one to consider:
Anytime there is power available when not very much stuff is drawing power (like in ACC) but then the power drops when more power is asked for (like starting engine) it could be a connection that needs some attention.
For example, a battery post that is dirty and/or corroded between the post and the cable will act this way. Enough power will pass to play the radio or lights, but the voltage drops way down when you try to crank the engine.
This is pretty easy to check. Connect a volt meter between the engine block and the +connection on the starter. Try to start the engine. If the voltage drops waaay down you are probably chasing a bad connection.
To fix, pull the connectors at the battery and make sure everything is shiny clean. Then pull the other end of the ground cable(s) and do the same. I had several loose grounds on my '11 from the factory.
If this is not the problem, you will know this possibility has been eliminated as you look for other reasons it won't start.
Edit: Almost forgot - the suggestion about the shift lever is a good one. Either play with the shifter while trying to start, or use the little opening beside the shifter to defeat the switch and try to start. Details about defeating the switch is in the owner's manual.

So you have a remote start/alarm system installed?
You need to take it to the installer of that system.
Having attempted to install a viper alarm myself, I can assure you it is much more involved than you might imagine.
When you get to the point of programming the remote there is a lot more that you can do wrong than there is that you can do right.
Let us know what the resolution turns out to be.

Battery is clean, remote start is stock from the factory. I am at work all night so in the morning I will have to try the neutral start and play with all that....if not its getting towed to the dealer to figure it out.....I guess that's the good part of a warranty..

Well the dealer paid to send a tow truck as bring it in earlier this morning. Still no clue what is wrong. Tow driver as well as many other JK owners are stumped at what sound was being made.
A plus side-----I called the dealership and asked I the FINALLY had the transmission oil cooler tube recall parts to fix and they have em.....so after being on the wait list for almost a year they are going to fix that too. Aaaaand look into my trac control light coming on for a day or two then going away here and there.....thank God for warranties used just in time

Had this happen to my friends 2013 the other day. Turned out that he had to pull the fuse that "recognizes" the key, as in the one that makes sure u are using the actual key that belongs to the jeep not a fake (maybe a chip or other form of recognition system). He pulled the fuse, waited a minute, put it back in and bang started right up. Just a thought.
