San Diego...we've had others stolen from down here as well...I think SD in general is high on the list of areas for stolen vehicles...I'm sure it will turn up down in TJ with someone high up in law enforcement down there driving it!

Wow, I figured the JK models would be pretty difficult to steal. I had my TJ Rubicon stolen from my drive way in Coronado about two and a half years ago. The officer that took the report said mostly the TJ's are being jacked and the JK's are more difficult, so a lot less of them have been stolen. My TJ was the first vehicle stolen from my neighborhood in at least 14 years! According to our "security". Sucks to hear about this, I hope it works out for your buddy.

Actually about a year ago Wranglers came up as number 2 on the list for stolen vehicles in San Diego. We went out shortly thereafter and bought a Club.

Shockwaveaz said that they are difficult to steal, is the because of the "chip" in the key? I was told that makes them difficult to steal, and "hot wiring" is next to impossible because of the "chip", is this true?

That's my problem, naturally it was all clean and shinny at the time, had the hard doors on, and the full soft top on. Typically it sat with a Rain Gear cover with soft doors (or no doors) and a bikini top. Time to get the new one filthy to keep the thieves away.

I'm not surprised they're frequently stolen here in SD, I literally live less than 10 miles from the border of mexico. Pretty sure I know where mine was within 20 mins of being jacked.
