Default t-case went boom

t-case went boom.

had a slight rattle and vibration for a day, was taking it to the wash to spray it down so i could get to the zerks and take a look at everything while it was clean. well on the way i smelt smoke and started to work my way over to stop and then it started to smoke and i heard a boom. sounded like the drive shaft came lose and ripped everything out. turns out from what i saw at quick glance is it shattered at the front driveshaft output shaft and there was no other damage. called a buddy with a trailer and drove it up onto and off the trailer and into the shop at 4wp where i will further investigate it this week.

Funny story, I had play in my front ds, so I pulled it out. Here I find there is play in the front output shaft of the t-case as well. It's a very small amount of play, but it's there. I'm a little afraid to put a new ds in because of this. It's an 08 Rubi with 30K miles and stock gears, 35's and a 3.5 inch lift. I wonder how many if the blown ones had play in the output shaft bearings? Not rotational play, it's in out, side to side.

Any update on the cause of this??
I have noticed since I upgraded to a 1310 drive shaft that I have a slight up/down and side/side play in the front output shaft. My pinion is tilted up 2 degrees and there is very little difference in the angle of the pinion to driveshaft. I feel no vibrations at all.
