First off are you talking about the oversize carrier that they make or a bumper tire carrier

Go with what your budget lets you , a lot of these guys think that If they spend a grand They got the best , the smittybilt bumper are really good bumpers the only down side you might run across is the powder coat

I have a xrc now for 2 years no flaking or anything and it still holding up good with the tire like this

We love the design of the Smitty Bilt bumper and never had the problems with the latch that some of the other had. That said the bumper is good from most but if you do rock crawling it's open design is susceptible to this if you come down on it wrong. The funny thing is we saw this as a possibility from a review by one of the magazines but never thought that would happen to us until we ran the Rubicon Trail.

Just the carrier. I'm trying to put off buying a bumper/carrier combo since I have other mods I would like to do first. The carrier is only around $100 and I haven't seen anyone that has complaints about it.

That's the XRC in your pic? I like how it mounts high like that, better for wheeling assuming you have the top off or the Trektop NX.

I looked at that, but it's WAY overpriced for just a carrier. I honestly don't understand why people are excited about it. Maybe if they dropped the whole package price into the $400 range, then I would consider.

Looks like it is built well, but for around $700, you can get a bumper/carrier combo (ACE and a few others).

My situation is this: If I can get something for UNDER $300 installed, I would consider. The Smitty is going to cost me $200 installed.

Anything over that price range and it will have to wait at least a year or two. I want a front bumper first and have some other mods I want to do.

I've had a 35" MTR on my stock tire carrier and tail gate for almost 10k miles now.

I like the OR-Fab tire/ can carrier. With a 2-door, it gives me the functionality of a tire carrier can carry 2 gas cans, a hi-lift jack and come with a CB antenna mount built in. Oh and another spot to mount a trail flag!

I like the look of no bumper and frame rails only. I'm going to buy the EVO d-ring mounts to add to my frame rails for added functionality.
