I was born and raised in Coronado, the Island in San Diego Bay. There are many great restaurants and Pubs on the Island but if you want a wonderful experience then pony-up and pay for a night at the Hotel Del Coronado. An amazing place with unbelievable places to eat and relax - mind you it's pricey but it's really a great place. Originally wired by Thomas Edison himself and location for many movies the rooms are very nice and the Salt Water pool is unusual. Located on Coronado Beach it's a nice place to enjoy the Pacific. Great Golf course that's a municipal course so very inexpensive for a fun 18 hole course ($30 per round I think).

Thanks for all the restaurant recommendations.. outside of Sea World, Zoo, Gaslight district, what else would be a must go see. We will be in San Diego August 25-28 and then drive north and then over to Fort Irwin to visit the girlfriends nephew. Then Vegas for the weekend.

 

Fish 101 Encinitas. Not fancy. Good food.
