Default Wanted - Rear Window

Hey Gang,

I've only gone and ripped my zipper on the rear window. That thing should just be button-snapped!

I posted in the wanted section but wondered if one of you has a rear window that you're not using.
Let me know if you're getting rid and how much you would like for it.

Be careful about driving with only the rear window out. You can get exhaust gasses built up in the jeep and that’s not healthy. If you crack a front window supposedly its not an issue.

I drive this way about 90% of the time. No issues. Never heard of this being a problem unless you're parked in the garage with the door closed.

So you leave the side windows in and take just the rear facing one out? Why not take all three out?

You know there were all sorts of warnings all over my YJ and in the manual too but I don't recal any of that with the JK. I guess maybe that’s not an issue with the JK design. The problem was that the air currents around the back of the jeep would blow the exhaust in the back window. I never heard of anyone having an issue with it maybe it was just Jeep being over cautious with warning labels.

I'll be driving along with my snorkel mask on, snorkel out the window...

Seriously though, thanks for the tip. I'll keep those front windows cracked

It's called the station wagon affect. As a vehicle moves forward it creates a low pressure area behind it. Cars, SUVs and Jeeps have rear facing exhausts. If the rear window is open a good percentage of the exhaust can be drawn into the passenger compartment. The rear window in most cars and SUVs is not intended to be open while in operation.

This is the reason trucks have side exhausts. They push exhaust out to the side where it is left along the road as the truck moves forward. With a rear exhaust an open rear window or installed camper shell on a truck is a death trap.

Just lettin' ya know.
