Most folks are having it done through Mel at Off-Road Evolution.

That's not really an option for those of us down in SD though. Anything closer?

Silverback, the only two places I know that have experience with the JK in this area are 4Wheel Parts in El Cajon, and ORW. 4WP says minimum two days, and I haven't checked with ORW yet. I need to get 4.10s put in mine so I have been looking for a place too lately.

Also, I know ORE is a site sponsor an all, but I have heard from a few folks on this very forum who shall remain nameless that have had work done there that they aren't as knowledgeable and thorough as advertised. I have NO personal experience with those statements however. Not trying to strip up any trouble.

YUP YUP YUP. Mel and Crew are the best. Great work and nice folks. Did my wheels, tires, and lift. Mel was adamant about coming back in 500 miles to re-torque the lift and explained everything in great detail... in addition, he's very upfront about everything: time to install, costs, parts, etc... and he's not a bullshit artist who tries to up sell you (like some other unnamed National Chain Stores). His wife, Lisa, is awesome as well... she went way above and beyond and tracked down the wheels and tires I wanted.

If you can get to Fullerton, then I highly recommend ORE.

"Not trying to strip up any trouble" Well, I disagree. Unless you can provide names, dates, and specifics, then I think you're just ********.
Edit: Since posting this, I have been educated by Toad about the referenced situation. Spencenaz means well and does indeed have supporting evidence for his posted opinion.

Look, I'm not saying that "ORE Sucks", or "don't go to ORE". What I am trying to say is that here in the forum all we seem to see are glowing reviews for them. But, in private at Project-JK meet ups and in other surroundings I've had at least three different people tell me that they were less than pleased with the service they received from ORE. For whatever reason I think they feel intimidated to freely express that opinion here in the forum.

I don't think I've ever met Toad, so I don't know specifically what situation is being referred to for my "supporting evidence". I can say that Toad was not one of the people who expressed disappointment to me about ORE.

I don't have anything against ORE, nor do I have any personal experience with them. For whatever reason others have felt compelled to tell me about their bad experiences (unsolicited I might add) and I think it shouldn't go unsaid.

Regardless of what I think of ORE it's not a practical solution for those of us who do not live in the LA area anyway.

Sorry if I inflamed anyone that was not my intent.

Toad smacked me around and let me know who was boss... I feel much better now. Thank you.

Well, I dropped off my JK at ORE this morning. I know (or have read about) a lot of people who have had good experiences with them and have also heard of a few who didn't although I don't know any specific details on what was installed and what the issue was.

Sounds like any other business. Mistakes happen. I know we all want it done right the first time, and it should be, but shit happens. I talked to Mel and his wife this morning and they guarantee their work. If there's an issue with the install, they say they'll fix it. That was good enough for me.

I know ORE's price to do the work I'm having done was about $600.00 less than a place in the Inland Empire quoted.

Here's what I'm having done:

Install 4.88 gears
Install ARB front and rear lockers
Fabricate a mount and install ARB air compressor
Install D30 Chromolly axles
Tear down / Inspecting everything after 500 miles

I should have the JK back next Tuesday or Wednesday. After I put some miles on it, I'll post a follow-up on here.

Haven't ever had any problems with these guys but their out here in Ontario. Rancho Motorsports has done a couple gear sets for me including my Rubi. Good guy named Jason runs the shop, always been up front and a straight shooter with me.
