Default Where to go for in SoCal?

Hey everyone -

I have a bit of a problem. I think my tires are out of balance because I get some pretty good (bad) shaking at highway speeds ( I didn't notice it much before because I rarely went over 45 mph in NM). However, I have had them balanced twice - once upon delivery and once at the dealership after noticing how the thing shakes. My question is: are there better ways of balancing tires than what the dealership can do? If so, who in the SoCal would be the best to take it to?

The reason I say I "think" the problem is the tire balance is because I haven't put new control arms on to correct for caster since I installed the lift. Could that cause shaking or would that just cause "dartiness"?

Oh yeah, I'm posting this in the SoCal thread mainly because I want the good place to go in SoCal to get the work done information.

Clackey - feel free to move it

I was having a problem with a vibration in the front end for a while also. I rotated my tires (They were over due) and re-torqued every nut a bolt on the suspension front and rear. Problem solved. I have a front upper track bar bolt that does not like to stay tight. As always it was loose!
As far as who to use in SoCal for rebalancing tires? I would think anyone really but I would check other issues first.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Clackey -- Unfortunately my tools are in storage for another week or so, so I may not be able to tighten anything bigger than 5/8" for a bit. I will rotate tires though. I know that needs to be done.

If they are offroad tires you should rotate them every 3000 miles. Some MT's dont balance well so tell the guy to spin 'em twice and mark the best two for the front. A good tire shop will help you out. I know you are clear out in Temecula, if you come to sorange county I could recommend a place.

Dont go with the max 40lbs they put in. Most of us are running like 26lbs. That will smooth out the ride and help with dartiness.
