Yeah we are thinking of taking the set the PSC donated and using them to build another crawler to take to events like 4wheeltoheal or other military sponsored and allowing one of the Military members without a vehicle run it.

We have decided to stick to using the Cherokee body and frame. Going to chop it and build off of it.
Something similar to these pictures.
What do you guys think would be cool to see?
Do you think we should just scrap the jeep and go the buggy route?!?!
Thoughts, suggestions and criticism accepted and is encouraged! Help us decide which way to go!

Coming from the XJ world myself I would say it really depends on where you want to end up on tire size. Anything over about 35's really gets into some severe cutting to fit the tires. You will want to look up a website called Erics XJ, the man literally wrote a book about XJ's and modifying them. I have the book if you want it you can have it. It has lots of good info about the stock powertrain and upgrade options. You have the Renix fuel injection system on that XJ which is typically considered less desirable that the later 4.0HO motor. You also have the closed loop cooling system (if I remember right) which has a coolant bottle near the passenger side firewall which is prone to breakage. There is an aftermarket metal option or lots of people swap to the later style open loop cooling system which gets rid of the bottle. There is also a local fabricator, Dirt Bound Offroad if I remember right that does a lot of XJ parts. Being as it's a unibody putting frame plates on it is a must. BTW a chevy small block does fit between the fenders if you want to get crazy. For suspension check out Iron Rock Offroad they make 3 link thats pretty cool. Clayton, Full Traction and Rock Krawler also have good options. If you have any other questions I will try to help as much as possible. Personally I have seen a few XJ's that cut off the rear behind the rear doors and just below the rear windows, makes for a cool look.

Thanks big Steve! Ill start trying to research up on it. Lots of good info there.
We decided to 3 link it, looking into coil-overs as we speak. Trying to find a used set or a cheap set. We were talking about approaching King Shocks and see if they'd like to help. Either way we will make something happen.
I researched ideal lengths and came up with 21" extended 14" collapsed, with holding around 2600 lbs of vehicle weight. Not sure how spring ratios work?
Someone with shock knowledge HELP!!!

She's been sliced and diced, 2 miles of wiring cut out of the harness and axles redone.
Frame is in process!
King coilovers 18" bought and waiting install!
Hopefully I can find a computer and upload the pics.
