I've found out that I need to be in ATL for my sister's birthday dinner by 5... so I reckon I'd need to leave around 1-1:15 alabama time, 2 ish ga time... What time would we be getting started Saturday morning? If we get started early enough, I'll make the trip. I just have to make it worth the drive... I've got a 4 hour trip from my place in Athens, or a 4.5 hour trip if I go from home in Dublin. I mainly just can't swing cash for a hotel.

I definitely wanna go, but if the group wasn't wanting to start 'till 11 or 12, then I can't really justify all that gas and time on the road.

If I do make it, I've got a winch and other miscellaneous recovery stuff to help out.

Hey guys I was thinking of meeting around 7-7:30, and try to be on trail by 8:00. If anyone shows up late they can try and radio anyone with a CB. I don't have a CB right now, but I'm sure that someone will have one or try me on my cell 205-790-3593. I've always run channel 4 on rides if that's what you want to try and do.

I'll try to install my CB this week so that I maybe accessible by radio.

I'll be coming through Atlanta from Athens Saturday morning... EARLY saturday morning. haha.

Also, I've been on rides before with no CB... and while it sure would've been more convenient on me and everyone else to have had one, it wasn't impossible. So if you can't get it, don't let it deter you from coming and having a good time. We'll figure it out if you can't get a CB.

I've been on rides without, and it sure is nice to be able to communicate with the other vehicles. That's enough to motivate me to install it this week. I'm going to have my work cut out for me this week with installs. A lift and CB. Oh yeah!!!

We are looking at going on sat...We usually go the back way up GA Hwy 278 thru rockmart, and cedartown , From Dallas-Hiram area, and across towards gadsden.... Its good roads. Better than having to go across I-20 and up that way around Anniston and such.

The park is down the back roads. 1st time we went, had a time, in the rain finding our way. But we got there,,,and had a time!! all by our self, as we haven;t really met anyone. BUT if ya;ll want to come over this way From East Atlanta areas, and caravan over, from this ware...we can arrange a time, and and meet up....Make our way to the park and met up with the rest of the folks, on the way or at the park,,,At whatever time anyone wants too. I agree...we were looking at heading over form here around 7:00-7:30---AND we gain an hour across the stateline.... Gonna hit the Bestbuy and pick up a good cobra or midland handheld CB this week also.... What Channel does everyone monitor???? I know 19 is a base channel for truckers and interstate use....

,,But I can show ya;ll how to get over there the back way, If ya like.... My E-mail Is BBKB6056@Aol.com

Shoot me a line...my name is ken and we are in Paulding County..

Default Standing Wave Ratio and CB Channel Selection

Because of physics, we typically stay near the center channels, either 22 or 23 on most of our rides. Normally you don't want to use channels on the extremes - those near channel 1 or channel 40.

If you know your SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) is good (broad on the graph), then most any channel is fine, although you're better being in the area where your SWR is the lowest. If your SWR is narrow (see graph again) or off-center, then it's possible to damage your CB when transmitting - notice from the graph that that condition tends to exist at the extremes of the band (higher or lower channels).

I might need to retune my antenna then. I remember on past rides using low number channels, perhaps to avoid excess chatter. I have mine optimized for the low channels as a result.
