Eglin range warning!!
For those of you who wheel eglin range or are considering visiting in the future i just want to warn you that Johnny law is cracking down on trail riding. We were out riding today and were pulled over and almost incarcerated. We were not doing anything crazy, simply driving on some dirt roads and hit a couple mud holes.
They do not want anyone using the range for any 4x4 purpose, that includes the sand pits, power line roads, etc. That is the directive straight from the eglin afb commander. The range is only to be used for hunting, fishing, camping, etc. It is his opinion that we destroy the roads and trails with our 4 wheel drives and does not want us to ruin it for everyone.
the only reason we were not arrested is the fact that my squadron super grew up with the officer who pulled us over
just a warning, take it for what you will. I believe the fine for civilians is 55 plus a 25 dollar processing fee and loss of range access for a month
