Jeep on fire
Honestly I would first call the dealer and drop it off. The only solution I would see is a nice and shiney new Jeep from the lot with equal options. Let the dealer deal with Chrysler.
If they balk or give you the run around then deal with insurance.
That is how I would attempt to handle it if it were me. Chrysler needs to pay for this and no part of your insurance should be involved in my opinion. My parents bought a demo 2000 E320 Mercedes with 8000 miles or something like that. It caught fire while driving and they got out luckily and it went up big time! It was towed to the dealer and before anything was really said they were offered a 12,000 mile 2001 E430 Sport as a 'trade'... That is how this should play out in my opinion.

Obviosly a total loss. Can you say new Rubicon?
I wonder if the insurance co will let you buy the salvaged vehicle? I'd love to have both axles!

It was determined that the fire was the result of a faulty cell phone charger. The unit in question was a Belkin charging dock for an iphone. Come to find out this unit was recalled for just this sort of thing. Obviously, I had no idea the charger was recalled.
Insurance said "no problem we'll fix it, you only have to pay your deductible"
I said "you mean you're going to total it?"
Insurance said "nope, repair is only estimated to cost $9,500, you would need $20,000 in damage to total it"
Now, I'm pretty confident that it is unlikely that they will be successful in removing the toasted new car smell so, I'm not sure how this will all play out. Unfortunately I had already sold the lift and wheels, so it looks like I'll be rebuilding. Hint, hint...Teraflex here's your opportunity to support "Project Easy Bake jeep"

Wow! I think I have one ofthose Belkin chargers - I'll check soon. Glad it was only the Jeep.
