jeep show
The Lynx Bus Service in Orlando will be having a grand opening and open house to show off their new facilities at the corner of John Young Parkway and Princeton Street in Orlando. As part of this event, Lynx will be presenting their annual Bus Rodeo (a driving competition for the fleet's drivers to find out who is the best and move on to a higher level of competition) and a JEEP SHOW. Entry is free for spectators and participants. Tow rig and trailer parking is plentiful and all parking is on new concrete.
The Jeep Show is open to all models of jeeps, civilian and military, stock and modified, brand new and beat like a rented mule and will feature prizes and trophies. This is a chance for Florida's jeep clubs to come together for a social day of renewing old friendships, free food, and fun competitions. The highlight of the day will be the awarding of the Club Participation Challenge trophy. The formula for winning this is deceptively simple. Multiply the number of jeeps from your club by the number of miles your club traveled times the number of jeep models in your crew.
If your club traveled seventy miles with two TJs, an LJ, a CJ-5, a XJ, and a WK, your club's score would be 6 (jeeps)x70 (miles)x5 (models) = 2100 points. A club that is at a "medium distance" could win by bringing a moderate number of jeeps, a moderate variety of jeeps, and traveling a moderate distance.
If your club traveled only 10 miles with two C-104 Jeepsters, a Ford GPW, a YJ Wrangler Renegade, a FJ-3A Fleetvan, a FSJ Cherokee Chief, a DJ-5C Mail Jeep, a MK Compass, two CJ-6A Tuxedo Parks, a M725 Ambulance, a LJ Rubicon, a JK Wrangler, and six TJs, your club's score would be 19 (jeeps) x 10 (miles) x 12 (models) = 2280. A club from nearby could win by bringing lots of total jeeps and/or a good variety of jeeps.
If your club traveled 250 miles with three TJ Wranglers, a WK Grand Cherokee, and a KJ Liberty, the club's score would be 5 (jeeps) x 250 (miles) x 3 (models) = 3750. The small group could win be traveling the furthest distance and not necessarily by having the most jeeps or models.
There may be another multiplier thrown in later to throw off any calculations that the pre-planners try to do, but rest assured, if there is an additional calculator, it will be done for the same reason that this equation was devised: to try to even the playing field for all clubs.
We want to reward the club who works the hardest to support this show!
And for those coming: it is a major goal of the organizers to allow the clubs to park together and not get seperated into classes. In fact, feel free to bring your club banners and recruiting materials. You won't offend us.
We hope to have the RTI ramp available for those who want to show off their rig's flex and there may be a few other games thrown in to keep it interesting.
Independents (people who are not members of a club) are obviously welcome too. If the "Independent Jeep Club" wins by the above formula, then the independent jeeper who traveled the furthest will get the trophy...at least that's the contingency plan for now.
