Default "JK-INVASION" / Tellico Q & A

I am interested in going to Tellico in May, but was wondering a few things.
1. Apparently the Land Cruiser Ass. guys are going for the whole week, including that weekend. Is it going to be a ZOO or is this place big enough (obviously, I've never been there). h++p://forum.ih8mud.com/tn-stlca/199249-gsmtr-information.html

2. With my relatively stock rig, what can I expect? Not willing to inflict any REAL damage, am I going to be relegated to the "kiddie" trails? I may have my 35"s by then, but certainly no rock rails or lockers.

3. Is there a plan to caravan up, or just meet there?

My plan is to convince my brother to go with me, but he may be taking his Cruiser and run with the LC guys. I am assuming you all wouldn't care if he ran with us instead, he's not a real big fan of theirs (they can be a bit "elitist").

Thanks and feel free to move this to a better location. As long as I can find it.

2. most of the challenging trails are wide enough to allow bypassing the tough obstacles. The "extreme" trails are narrow and usually require heavy vehicle modifications and damage is to be expected (school bus, pinch rock, guardrail - ask tinmann, and helicopter pad).

3. I plan on going up Thursday (May 14) If anyone is coming through Atlanta or wants to meet in Murphy, NC you can follow me to Crawfords! If others are coming from your area hit them up and follow each other!

*** Danny at Crawfords can also cater food if we want. $8.50-$9.00 a plate for Pulled Pork BBQ or he can do hot dogs and hamburgers for cheaper. If there is an interest we will need to give advanced noticed!***

Yes a little damage happened. The second picture down in the link shows a square rock that dented my side step on the way up. Mainly because I slid off the rock a little to early. The bottom picture you can see how it was a little tight at the end. Mainly because I didn't want more problems with the square rock again.

There was some other winching that happened over this weekend. 07JKX is on all terrain and 33's. If I'm right he just had to winch once, but could have gone around the rock. Nothing crazy other than Corey "showing off with his lockers". But Corey an myself now know how to do axel shaft repairs!

Default Tellico may not be open in May

Better check the posts on Tellico being closed until they decide on reopening. As of today on SFWDA site, Tellico may not re-open April 1st.
Here is the link http://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/nepa/tu...ry_closure.pdf

So should we have a backup plan, just in case? I figured it would be wise, and possibly to set a date at which the backup plan will be used. I think it would be terribly confusing to say we're going to plan B and then 2 weekends before (or less) say we're back to Tellico. Of course, that would affect me as much since I'm camping and haven't done any sort of reservation.

There have been so many issues in the past year you really don't know what to believe. I'm sure a plan B would not be a bad idea.
