Default Leeds AL Area

Anyone near Leeds Alabama?

Found easy access to trail heads in area. May plan a ride in a few weeks for Fall.
Plenty of challenges. Some will require winch work and spotter. Also great for leaf rides in plenty of areas with enough mud to look like you had fun anyway.

Some locals will know this area. No posted signs found so far. Might risk running into game warden but it would be rare from what I hear.

Nice fishing holes too.

I've been on some off of Markeeta Rd., out near the railroad tracks...the entrance is on Markeeta and it runs alont I-20 for a little while then opens up into lots of kudzu.

Where are these you are referring to? I wouldn't mind checking them out, the only thing I don't like is tight trails that scratch the paint....but sometimes you can't help that I guess.

That's it! There are MANY trails there. Can't promise no scratches, but I didn't get any and I backed off into a kudzu ravine! My fault, but I got out.

Almost all the trails are easy with a bit of mud holes and some minor wash outs. You can push it as hard as you want or just enjoy the cruise in the woods. It's up to you. I try not to do anything to rough because I lack a wench. But most of the trails are really fun if you are a beginner or even a bit aggressive.

IM me and I can tell you some more about when I can go again.

yeah I've been there with a buddy of mine....there are a few different ways you can go, one goes to the creek/river, one goes back out to the tracks, and one goes a really long way then forks and I know that one of the forks puts you back out on Markeeta but just further down....this last route wasn't all that bad, but has LOTS of deep nasty mudholes and a few big rocks that are pretty scary lookin'. here's what ours looked like after going about half way down that last trail.....

And here's a video of mine climbing a steep hill that's right outside the entrance to the trail mentioned above...HERE

Hopefully, I can get back out somewhere soon...we're in the process of moving out to Odenville, so it may be a couple weeks.

Default Great videos!

I live in Leeds. I grew up going out on the Markeeta trails and just recently started riding my Jeep there. I know the rr track entrance and the Markeeta Spur road entrances. Any time you want to go out there just email me at cbarber91@gmail.com.

If you ever go by the Leeds High School you will notice a dirty, muddy Rescue green 07 JK sitting in My driveway. Drop by. I usually go on Saturday mornings. My two main entrances to the trails are only a couple of miles from my house.

I also have some inlaws that live in Markeeta in case we ever need a bit of recovery. They live on Markeeta Spur Road. I haven't checked lately, but there were some entrances from their property to the trails years ago.

You ever go to the Army Surplus store in Leeds? You can usually find me there on Friday nights. If my Jeep is there, I'm there.

Oh, My name is Chris Barber by the way. Hope to meet up with you and your friends for a ride soon! Love the videos!

I had to pull up mapquest to figure out where in the heck Leeds, AL isd. Looks like you are all east of Birmingham on I20.

Not too far from us here in Huntsville, maybe we can all linkup sometime.

Are the trails out in Cook Springs still open. We used to ride dirt bikes out there and the trails were fantastic.

I have never been there. I would be very interested to know myself.
