Default North Georgia Trails/Camping

Anyone know of any light (possibly moderate) trails that allows primitive camping.

I would like to find somewhere within a couple hours of Atlanta that has legal trails and allows for camping, in a non-campground setting. Would be nice to find somewhere that also has water access for a canoe or fishing.

I know Georgia has WMA's, but not sure if they allow camping in a non-campground setting.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Kind of like the picture below!!

The Parks websites have some info on those kinds of campsites. State Parks... National Parks... I know there are a few, because I've seen them. Unfortunately, I can't recall exactly where... Search the web, you'll find what you're looking for.... That's how I found them.

There were several miles of trails on the "back side" of Amicolola Falls S.P. outside Ellijay. Haven't been up there since 2004.

Hookup with the guys at Kennesaw Mountain Offroad.... they may not be the best people for customer service, but they run a semi-annual competition up there called Raid North Georgia. They are intimately familiar with the areas up there.

Thanks for the info. I think I found their info (http://www.kenmtn.com/). I will give them a call and see what they can tell me.
