I made it out to the National Forest on Friday on kind of an impromptu trip with a buddy on our day off. Ending up spending half of the time up there exploring the area of of FR 538 and 572. Made it over to the Big Scrub area on FR 573 by the power lines later on but only went down a couple of trails there. Had a great time and the stock jeep could handle it and was thankful for the dirt. Although I'll say a couple of areas the sand was soft and thick as hell and bit of a challenge. Hope to get out there when you guys go back sometime.

One thing that confuses the hell out of me are the rules up there. I just assume stick to numbered roads and your cool although when trails criss-cross it's hard to tell if your on a numbered road anymore. I read this on ocala.com this weekend and was wondering what you guys make of it or have heard anyone talking about it. It seems like this applies to more the ATVs as far as fees and such but I don't know. Hopefully this is really adding trails and they won't start un-designating what's already there...

Later,
Brian

I plan on hitting up ONF over the summer months. From what I've seen of it on fjcruiserforums.com it looks like some fun wheeling and great scenary.

I know exactly what you mean.I've been going to the ONF for alot of years but always with 4 Wheelers. It use to be alot better.I have a friend who lives out there and he knows it pretty good.I know that they are changing all the
signs right now and its a mess (MY Opinion) my friend states when its all done
it will be alot better. Regarding the fees he told me that he pays $75.00 a year
(I think its $75.00) and he able to ride any of his 4 Wheelers,I think its per person not per vehicle, but I may be wrong. I have a Flyer he gave me with a map and all that and as soon as I have a chance I will try to post it here.

the fees only apply to unregistered ohv i.e. atv motorcycles and the such if you drive your jk out there as long as its registered you are fine but you have to stick to named or numbered trails or posted jeep ( any registered vehicle can run them just they are posted with a jeep sign ) trails

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, I think I understand better what their intentions are at least and what to look for. And thanks for explaining what the fees are.

Can't wait to get back up there. I might try the Saturday after next, depending on how work's going...

Thanks,
Brian

Hey, thanks for that additional info karnuvore. I've been reading up a bit and it sounds like with all the re-numbering and so forth with the trails that they are setting up a "4x4 only" trail with obstacles and such off of the 538 area due to be complete in September. Sounds cool.

As far as the Saturday after next, I am sensing I'm going to be working that Saturday. I'm on a project that is scheduled to end on 6/20 that in reality will end 7/20. "They" just don't realize that yet. In order to appease "them", I'll probably be working during that day. Maybe I'll try to make the meet and greet instead. I still want to make it back up there though.
