Figured I'd start a thread about the upcoming trip to Moab for Easter Jeep Safari that a few of us from "The South" are going on. As of now the list is:

We plan to meet up north of Atlanta on April 15th and drive to Topeka, KS to stay the night, picking up the Alabama guy in Nashville, TN to join the caravan. Saturday we will drive to Moab, UT finishing the 1,713 miles in about 26 hours from behind the wheel.
As of now we will be running the Full-Traction/Superior Axle/Superchips: Project-JK MOAB Madness AREA BFE Run, Superchips Night Run, Golden Spike and Cliff Hanger trails.
I created a Facebook page, feel free to follow us as we will post updates and pictures. Click the "Like" button.

Can anyone guess what the projected fuel costs will be for one of the JK's? There and back as well as trails and other driving will be around 3,800 miles in 10 days.

What did I win??
Well I was bored so ... I figured that if you get around 15 mpg and (worst case) gas averaged out to $4 a gallon, itd run you about $1000 there and back. But that's just my math, which I suck at.

Epic in a good way hopefully.
UPS man delivered the MOAB maps last night, so between those and the Charles Wells book, we should have no problems finding our way to the Archeological digs and Indian cave dwellings. Plus we should be able to see the dinosaur footprints, and catch some rock art petroglyphs.

There are a couple calculators out there... this one was limited on the cities you could choose, but calculates based upon current fuel costs:
http://fuelcostcalculator.aaa.com/
Results
Start City: GA, Atlanta
End City: UT, Salt Lake City
One-Way Trip: 1907 Miles
127.13 Gallons Used
$450.89 Fuel Cost
Round-Trip: 3814 Miles
254.26 Gallons Used
$901.78 Fuel Cost
Sounds fun, wish I could go. Good luck!
