Two fishing poles,tackle box,fresh bait,ice chest, on a trail and was in route to the lake.

Yeah, Fishing poll: thats the smart thing to do... that way you have a reason to be wherever you are.

Unofficially, I think they have relaxed a bit... I was out there a few weeks ago with another jeep... we had just come from another trial ride and were covered with some mud... I saw a spill-cop and they didn't hassle us at all. There was some dumb ass kid in a chevy blazer or something doing hi-speed mud-puddle splashes and burnouts and such... that's the kind of behavior that gets you a fine, but I didn't see anyone pulling him over... maybe just lucky? If you are just driving around and not tearing it up, you should be ok.

Right I think the key is to just not look like you are trying to rip through the mud. I passed a spill-cop while i was out there and he never said anything to me. But i was also under the impression that you were not supposed to be mud riding out there. I went anyway
