It was a pretty fun job for a while...lots of traveling involved with it, drove crazy cars (armored Mercedes), ran around with MP5Ks, didn't have to wear uniforms, etc.

Germany was great...had a little apartment just south of Heidelberg in Wiesloch with views of vinyards. The town was so small I think I was the only American living there.

Ahhhh...remember those days WELL!!! I worked Keyes Building/Campbell Barracks. I was primarily at Keyes, so I got see the CINC and his staff alot. It was Gen. Otis (4 star), Fiala(2 star) and I think the tre was Adams. He was the most crotchety of the three. Fiala was extremely down to earth. He always made it a point to stop by the MP desk and shoot the shit for a while. His wife was always the first to drop off goodies during holidays.

There was a place in Kirscheim, I believe it was...down the road from Patton Barracks anyway....called Rudy's Winzerstube. He was easily in his late 60's if not 70's and married to a 30 year old fraulein and they both LOVED the GI's. He'd do last call, kick all the locals out, close the storm shutters and turn down the lights then sit with a table of us until 4 in the morning.

I was over there for two years but crammed a lifetime worth of experiences. I went through REFORGER a few months after getting in country. That was a blast! Two attacks on Lybia, the PX bombing, Chernobyl.

Moved back home to help my dad with his business when I was 20.

I used to own two of those.

One was a sedan, and one wagon. Cool cars, three on the tree, and one was push button if I remember right.

Anyhow...

Born in the NORTH......North Miami Beach, FL that is.
Then moved to Central Florida at 7 and have been here ever since.
