Very cool, and thats a great price too.....

Great looking rack.

2 questions;

Will it work with a Jeeperman rear bumper?

How does the rack connect to the front bar ?

- the Rack connects to the front light bar by bolts.

- I am very sure it will but to just be sure. Could you post up a picture of the bumper from the side and from the top down(where the rear bumper meet the fender and the corner of the body.? Since most of the after market rear bumper have the same height as the stock bumper.

Does it come with the lights or is that seperat? I like the round likes a lot more that the stealth ones but don't really need any lights...

btb01 04-26-2009 05:05 AM

is this price a limited time deal?

Z-Man 05-25-2009 03:06 PM

I am torn between this rack and the kargo master one,... How ever does this one allow for the use of a Yakima or Thule kayak racks? I will be needing to transport 2 Kayaks. 14' and 15.5'/

Appreciate any help you can offer...

MikeReo 05-25-2009 03:09 PM

real nice rack but i think i need something a little cheaper...just to hold the fishing poles and occasional extra cargo. best looking rack around though

Price no. Ladder yes. whenever the mfg decide to pull the special out. But generally they are pretty generous about it

Like I have said before. These racks are not cheap but you are sure paying for the great quality and well engineered product.:yup:

It took me awhile to decide which rack I wanted. And after months of flipping LOts of coins, I have decided on this one for many reasons. Plus I figure if I am gonna get something I get the best so no regret later. Plus no drilling to the vehicle for some people who hate making holes on their rig this would be great option as well ( not that I really care if I have to drill anything:rollingeyes:).

I had a Gobi on my last vehicle and they are the BEST racks out there.... You cant beat them.....

Ya I have been looking into racks and I think this one is it! They are very nice :yup:

:D

My last one wasnt convertible/topless, so the wife is against it on the Jeep, she wants the top down all the time, no rack to obstruct her view. thats teh only negative on the rack, going topless....:naw:

I want it for a roof top tent at least. also had my hilift and gas on the rack last time, easy mounting on the rack. they work great.

mmccurdy,

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was leaning 80% towards this rack and probably would have still gotten it, but could never find anyone with closeup pics on the JK. Thank you for posting the closeups. The pictures looked so good, at first I thought they were the manufactures advertising pics.

Thanks again

MBATF 05-25-2009 09:38 PM

Mike thanks for taking the pics and I wish I could have joined you for Frank Rains today.

Yep, one step at a time. You can bet I will be posting more pictures when I add the tent myself

wesley8808 05-26-2009 05:53 AM

I wish the side rails were flared out a little so you could fold back the sunrider top without having to rock back the entire rack.

How easy is it to rock back the rack to put down the top?

A video would really help sell this to me...

MBATF 05-26-2009 09:23 AM

Little updates.

*The release date for Quick Disconnect for the rack has been pushed back till next week. And would be under $100

*These rack can use Yakima and Thule mounting hardware to attach bike rack, storage box, kayak brackets to the 2 rack's cross bars. But customer state that the Yahkima seem to have the best fit.

* Here are some of the tubing diameters for all the top cross bars start from the top of the light bar to the last bar.
(from front to back)
-1 1/4"
-1 1/8"
-1 1/8"
-1"

* Please also allow aprox 7 days of lead time before delivery as they some time have to have mfg / and powder coating process.

Sunroof insert

Do you have/can someone take a pic of the sunroof insert installed from above?

This pic is taken just now specially for you. The bottom of the rack is facing you and the left is the front mounting points. so you are looking at the insert from bottom up. :)

here's a question.... How is the noise, due to air drag? I know and have read that the KM Congo Cage is a bit noisy, how is this with drag noise? Thanks for all the input! I am reall leaning towards the Gobi but $$ is tight and will be a stretch unfortunately...

That depends on how good your hearings are :D

Well the truth is most roof racks are going to make wind noise due to the drag, and pretty much most roof racks designed very similar to one another so all have about the similar +/- wind noise.

And also it is very hard for someone to describe it since we all have different comfort levels. Then again my jeep is making so much other noise that I think a bit of wind noise would actually be better for me

But some of the old square racks with bunch plates mounted on the sides... well those one will have the most noises and most drags.

mmccurdy 05-26-2009 05:07 PM

The wind noise at 70 MPH on the freeway with the soft top is definitely noticeable, but not intolerable. It also depends on how the rest of the vehicle is configured:

With the windows open, the wind noise from the windows is way louder, and the top does not seem to move that much. No problems there.

With the blower on recirculate and windows up, there can be an annoying flapping of the soft top (whole thing moves up and down rapidly). Not great, but I would assume similar to other racks of similar design.

However, with the cabin "pressurized" (blower on, windows up, recirc disabled), it is generally fine also. This is the quietest mode that I have found. The blower really only needs to be on one click in any mode (A/C, outside air, etc.) to keep enough tension on the soft top material to stop it from flapping. You will still hear the steady "rushing" of air past the rack, but it's probably comparable to the passenger compartment of a 737. WIth the rack and my 35" MT's I can still carry on a conversation with my passenger(s).

Thanks for all the inquiries, and I hope I have answer all of the questions.
