OR Fab Rear Sheet Metal bumper
Well, getting input from you guys worked out pretty good on the last go around so I'm going to toss up a couple early stage photos of a rear bumper I'm working on to get your opinons. The center will be all filled in on the finished product but what do you think of the over all look in general? Seeing as how this kind of design is strictly styling and opinions of looks I'm open to critique. I've honestly not looked at any of the competitor's bumpers so if there's already a twin out there I guess someone else thinks like me.
Anyways, I'm going out on a whim posting these, we'll see if it comes back to bite me in the ass!!! LOL
Remember, center will be filled in so from the rear view like in this first picture you won't see hardly any of the lower body under the tailgate. This should fit jeeps with factory hitches also and it tucks tight against the bottom of the rear factory crossmember...

Yes, that can is there on purpose...
Anyone notice the little cutout on the side? I put that in there and slid it through production. LOL, we'll see if the boss man figures out what it's for and axes it... Do you know what it's for?

Funny how those holes just happen to fit a can and be located right above the frame rail... Our tire/can carrier interferes with the pass one but the Drvr's is functional still as seen above. LOL
The large hole on the mounting plates sticking through the bumper will have a tube welded thru it and be the correct diameter for a common D'ring. We'll probably actually include the D'rings in the kit with the bumper but don't hold me to that.

Hmmm, flash kicked my but here but you get the idea... We're planning on actually having tabs up behind the ORF logo that you could mount a tiny set of lights. The space is tight but there's enough room for a set of PIAA 510 lights to fit in that we have laying around here. The 510 is a 55W beam and I think enough light would shine through the logo to help work as a backup light or just for setting up camp or whatever. We'll try it on the first one and see how it works out.

I'm on it.... I've had some unique thoughts about rear bumpers as they do have the space for the right equipment we all use... I'll write more but this is the bumper that is just right with space for ..........

A couple of things and then I'll make some suggestions.
Is this to hold a rear tire carrier? It looks as if there is a cutout for one even though you have the other tailgate version.
The rear will be filled but Make sure it accomodates a 37" wheel as it appears this is avg. mark for most competitors.
I'd like to see a built in location for an antenna.
d-ring shackle points seem to far out and should be in a little more like 4" for each side.
I was also hoping someone would finally figure out a location in the bumper that can be bolt on box behind either the left or the right side where a compressor could be adapted. I'd also like to see one of the cutout used for a air quick disconnect adapter to be located.
A small box that slides out of the bumper would be nice. This would help in keeping it sealed from moister and an easy way to have a lock on the outside. This could be a location for Air compressor or tools depending on the need of the rider. I would like to get an Arb compressor in it if possible but would also love to fit the tow straps and stuff in it. I'd line mine with a neoprene to limit rattle noise from any metal tool I might put in it.
You should etch a small lizard under the orf to add to the lighting of the rear light concept.
rear carrier should use the kolpin fuel pack to save on space. 1 other vendor uses them but I use to have one for my 4 wheeler quite a while back. Ther are the 2 1/2 gallon and 4 gallon styles.

For the compartments and air tanks, when I have the bumper mocked up on the jeep again I'll look into it and see how much room we really have up in there and see what I can maybe do.
I think our target price for this is in the $400 range. I'm not sure how close I can keep it with the addition of this though depending on what it takes to pull it off.

The other item everyone seems to have Band-Aid solutions for is a mounting location for the higlift jack. A few holes and a couple of quick brackets and bamb it's now able to carry one. What I was thinking is on the topside a bracket that angles out to hold the jack. Challenge (just means need to fit it first to find the right angle) is to make sure the tire can sit on your tailgate carrier.
As for tires, I bet bigger tires are more noticable on west coast than east coast as allot of the states have restrictions that actually make you have to stay at 35" if it is not a tow rig. for the 4 door jk in Mass you can't go over 35" without being illegal. Actual 35.6" if there is such a tire.
So being a sheet metal bumper as the description states that means the bumper is not really a boxed in design all the way around correct?
For the angles near the fender flares I'm trying to figure out how angles can be done to make angle out more as over 1/2 the fenders stuck out and these plastic crappie fenders don't need any attention put on them.
