It is not a waterproof solenoid, but it is designed to withstand the elements like all of the other popular winches. It will stil operate as it should in rain, snow, sleet, hail and the like. Just don't winch with it completely submerged.

It is an internal drum brake. The winch can be used with synthetic winch rope. Any of the brands we sell would fit on it.
