My 07 Tail light lenses are cracking on the outer edge about 2/3 way down from top. (I'll get a pic later today). I noticed this while at the dealer the other day. The funny thing is, I went looking at the lenses in the showroom, and found the same cracks starting!!! I presume the showroom Jeeps have not been driven, except off the train, and on and off the delivery truck. So, I don't think my lenses were hit by grocery carts or blind drivers, or vegetation (my original thoughts).

I'm going to ask the service manager for his opinion on this, but it would seem perhaps Chrysler should replace these for free. By the way, you can't just purchase the lens, you must buy the whole assembly for $125. Crazy price. My searches for after market have turned up nothing for the 07/08 style Tailight lens, or assembly.

Anyone else have this happening?

 

sounds to me like someone on the assemblyline overtightened the screws when they installed the lens..

got over 30,000miles on my 07 have not had any problems,maybe some assembly line goof and they are over tightening(mine was built feb 07)just put rugged ridge taillight gaurds on couple weeks back and no fault found with taillight lenses.

 

No issues with mine.

 

22,000km's and tickin' on my rig and no cracks in the taillight lenses. maybe someone on that shift/build was angry!

 

No cracks on any I've seen.

Maybe these are "Friday" builds. You know, build it quick so we can get a beer!

At least that's how it goes where I work!

Come to think of it, that's how it goes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday too.
