Exclamation '07 Auto Trans Shifter won't move from Park

Jumped into the Jeep and backed out of the driveway. I shifted to what I thought was drive and nothing. It appeared to be in Neutral.

I tried shifting again, and the shifter felt loose. Thought it might be a brake/button sequence problem, but nothing worked.

So I moved the Shifter forward to park, turned off the Jeep and tried again. Nothing, now the shifter won't move from Park.

I did find that the cable/bushing underneath gave way (See pic below, not my pic, but identical problem). I can shift manually underneath, but the shifter still won't move from Park.

Would the disconnected cable keep the shifter from moving from park? I thought if the cable came loose/broke that it would be loose.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
