When I shift from 1st to 2nd it isn't smooth. It's feels clunky. At first I thought I was shifting before I had the clutch all the way in and now I have trained myself to not even touch the gear shift until the clutch is all the way to the floor but it still happens about 90% of the time.

In addition, it lunges hard off the line often and if I try and come off the line smooth, it feels like I am letting the clutch slip alot to do that.

I am 40 and have been driving standard my whole life. Is a Jeep clutch and tranny that much different that I could be encountering a "getting used to it" phase?

Thanks in advance.
My 09 does it too. I notice it 3 months after i bought it, it kind of freaked me out so I took it back to the dealer, they took a look at it and told me that's just they way a jeep is suppose to be. I don't even notice it anymore. But if you are really worried take it back to where you bought it and have them take a look at it before it is out of warranty.

It's been a few months since I started this thread but I hardly notice it anymore. I do pause a bit from 1st to 2nd but have just kinda figured out the sweet spot I guess. The only problem I have with the rig now is that I have never in my 40 years of life had so many things I wanted to buy for a vehicle. Jeep should be running commercials about how good the JK is for the economy!

You might consider disconnecting the battery for a while to clear the "learned behavior" from the previous owner. All fly by wire vehicle computers "learn from the driver". By disconnecting the battery, you reset that to the factory baseline, then the computer learns how you drive. Basically, you are erasing all the "learned mistakes".

Also, change your brake fluid and bleed the hydraulic clutch after the brakes. 3 year old fluid is definitely bad, full of moisture. Change the trans fluid if you haven't done so already.
