Mime does it too. And I read it was the inner boot. But when I had my outer boot off when I broke the ring that holds it. U could tell a big difference when putting it in first. U didn't feel any resistance. And it didn't pop out of first the whole time. And it was like that for a month. As sooners as I got my Drake ring to put it back together. It started doing it again. I may replace my outer boot with an after market like the 2011 and 12's have. Or I may cut some slits in mine in the front and back.
Go outside and pop tthe ring off that holds it and u will c what I mean.

Mine dose this too, it started doing it with about 20,000 miles on it. Haven't taken it in yet because I've been given a hard time about warranty work already. Im sure they'll blame it on my after market bumper or something crazy like that!

Mine does the same thing. If there is a TSB for this problem it shouldnt matter if your JK has 54's on it. A TSB is a TSB.

I removed the inner boot completely, unfortunatedly noise and heat came in, so i put a piece of heat blanket in place, and.. quite as a sleepying baby, no heat at all, but... still an occacional 1st pop out. speacially when shifting lightly. i notice that if i stick it hard and keep it there it wont jump.

Its funny I test drove a 2012 Wrangler with a 6 speed and during the test drive it popped out of 2nd. In 5 years they still haven't got the manual trans right. My 07 and 08 both had the problem. went for the auto in the new Jeep.
