2 Dr JK - Seat won't fold & slide for rear passenger
Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.
Has anyone come up with a mod to move or tilt an 08 2dr seat style further forward for rear access? The aftermarket companies are leaving it alone due to the liability.
I think best bet for us with the older style might be to find one at a salvage yard out of a wrecked model 11 or newer. I removed my rear seat after seeing how hard it was to get back there with the poor design of the pass seat slide. I like the extra room that gives me and don't have any kids at home anymore and don't need to carry more than one pass anyway so works for me.
Good to hear the OP got the problem solved.. But I'm a little confused on what the 07 can't do? I have an 07 and with just the one lever on the side of the seat the seat folds forward and slides to the dash... It doesn't tumble forward but none of the JK's do that do they? So Idk if I have a special 07 or everyone elses is broken but my 07 does fold and slide for...
yep my 2013 jk sahara front passenger seat stopped the tumble mode today, it worked last week, so il have a look at what iv just read about that pin, cheers all
I had the same issue as OP but the problem was not the pin, it was actually the housing...
It ended up being that the cable housing was not properly seated near the tumble lever itself at the back the seat. The cable and housing were just flopping around when the tumble lever got pressed. If you've ever worked on bike brakes you'll know what I mean: If the end of the cable housing isn't kept stationary as the cable is pulled, the cable action doesn't work. Once I found the little slot that the end of the housing sits in, the tension in the cable was way greater and the tumble and slide worked perfectly.
