There are so many different part numbers for the rear drive shaft you need to give your VIN to the dealer to have them look up the correct one for your application.

A call to the dealer parts counter would have confirmed it.

Here are the rear drive shaft choices from the 2007 JK parts book.
The ones with 74 in the line of numbers/letters are 4dr JKs.

It makes no sense that there would be 6 different drive shafts for an unlimited. The axle is in the same spot and the transfer case is mounted in the same place and is the same for the rubi or non rubi. The distance between the output shaft and the pinion should be the same. There is a slip spline section that has plenty of available travel in it for small differences in length.

There are different transmission/t-case combinations.
Anyway, I'd call the dealer with my VIN before I purchased one since it looks like the drive shafts may have subtle differences.

I understand there are differences, they use a spacer with the auto transmission so the transfer case is in the same location as the 6 speed. The cross member only has one set of mounting holes to hold the transfer case so the transfer case is in the same location regardless of what transmission. The transfer cases are the same expect for different gears inside. What is the reasoning for different driveshafts? I wonder if that book includes the european models as well?

The dealer only told me what the computer said ( the parts woman did not have knowledge about anything jeep related ). I will have to try a diff dealer.

This was from another forum.

"No difference, front is the same for manual and auto 2dr or 4dr. Mechanically they are all the same from the transfer case forward. The auto and the manual trannsmissions are the same length, makes for a cheaper build and better parts interchangability.

I.E. any front drive shaft from any JK will fit any other JK variant. Rear shafts are different 2dr to 4dr but it makes no difference if its an auto or manual."
