Default 2007 with lifetime warranty - engine or trans replacement?

I bought my Jeep back in '07, about 6 weeks BEFORE they started offering the lifetime powertrain warranty on the '07 and '08 models

I was always a bit skeptical about the lifetime warranties (maybe just sour grapes on my part?), figuring they'd find a way to weasel out of it if anything major ever came up anyway, but I'm curious. I've always kind of felt like I missed out on a huge opportunity by buying mine 6 weeks too early.

Now that my Jeep has 185k on the ticker and I'm starting to wonder how much life it has left in it (still runs great, but...185k), I'm wondering if anyone who does have the lifetime warranty has been able to get an engine or transmission replaced under it? The brand has changed ownership since then, and they stopped manufacturing the 3.8s in 2012, so do they even still have spares lying around the warehouse to do warranty replacements? And if so, at what point do they draw the line and call it "normal wear and tear" vs a warranty issue? And what happens when there are no engines left in the warehouse?

So, has anybody run their Jeep into the ground, then got a replacement under the lifetime warranty? How many miles on it?

Got my transmission replaced under that warranty. I have a 2008 and had the transmission rebuilt. It gave out on a hill and had it towed to the dealer. Called them next morning and they said it is covered under warranty with no questions asked. 5 days later got the jeep back. I had the transmission replaced at 120,000 miles and now have 128,000.

I have 2008 Wrangler with the lifetime warranty. In 2008, we moved from Colorado to Arizona. Last year we has some $1,000+ engine repairs staring us in the face - no problem, right? Wrong. Evidently, we were supposed to have the Jeep inspected at the 5 year mark (the requirement was supposedly mailed to us, but maybe it went to our old Colorado address?). We've bought 9 new Jeeps over the years, but the factory denied an exception even though we had had the oil changed at that dealership within a month of the (short) +/- deadline of the 5 years.

did you have to do anything or provide any records other than your 5 yr inspection?
