Default 2007 Unlimited X, secret to putting on the freedom top

I have a 2007 Unlimited X that I just purchased with 40,000 miles. I did not notice any wind noise when I test drove it or when I drove it home. My wife pulled the freedom top off the other day and I put it back on and now we get horrible wind noise even at lower speeds (30-40mph).

Whats the secret? The clamps in front do not even seem that tight.

Thanks.

Are the large screws in at the soundbar? I get a bit more noise when I leave them out.

Yours were not put back on right. Take them off, and put them on straight and level. Make sure you put the passenger side on first then driver side. Hope that helps.

Sorry to double post, but another thing I noticed, if I don't seat the freedom tops correctly it causes the weatherstripping between the panels to get "smashed" or "flipped up" and makes a horrible whistle. Other than that is pretty noisy, no different than the t-tops I have had on other cars.

Make sure the back legs are not up from using it as a hard-top sun bonnet.

You may not have used it this way, but they may be up?

I had this happen once when I first got mine... wind noise from them not being seated correctly.

As the other posters offered. Start over.

Do the reverse of this and go slowly. Also helps if you can see the panels 'sit-in' from above.

Cheers

Yeah..... make sure you Read-N-Heed what Doubleusn mentioned above, about the Back Flip-Down Legs.

If you use the Freedom Top Panels with the Hard Top, LEGS UP! If you use the Freedom Top Panels as a Sun Bonnet, LEGS DOWN! Otherwise, you end up with two holes in your Freedom Panels, where the Soundbar Screws go. Ask me how I know.....

BTW..... DOUBLEUSN..... what does your User Name mean? I'm guessing two of your family are Navy???

Best of Luck!

Cheers!
