Default 2008 JKU Airbag door removal-passenger side. (Dash piece)

My dog scratched up this piece of my dash. It looks worse in person than in the picture.

The damaged part of the dash is referred to as the passenger side airbag door. And the part is about $130 online.

The problem I am running into is that I can’t find any “how to” videos or instructions on removing it.

Has anyone done it before and can briefly explain how it comes off? Or have a YouTube link saved? I can’t find anything.

The info I accessed shows this to be removable, handle must be removed and it appears to have vertical downward pointing tabs along the bottom edge.. it has a list price of $181 Mopar Part. You photo appears to indicate it is Slate color.. In my area there is a company Dye It Rite that works with dealers, new and used, to dye interior trim. Check with some local used operations and ask if there is a company that they use for trim coloring/painting. Heck I might attempt Gray shoe polish on 1 as a test. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY before attempting removal for safety.

I have a future task to clean out the trash behind my dashboard.
Years of pens, ketchup packets and other trash has me thinking I better take care of it sooner than later, but mostly due to the amount of ketchup packets back there...

What I have found so far is the dash comes apart from the bottom up...

I'm not of much more help than that until I actually tackle the project, and I'm not doing that until I have the suspension rebuilt, all fluids changed, brakes, and anything else that needs to be done before I can put some miles on this thing.

Ketchup packets reminds me of one time my grand daughter was riding in the jeep, six years old, she saw a ketchup packet in the console and asked why I had ketchup in the jeep, I told her that if I looked hard enough in there I might find a french fry, if I found a french fry I would need the ketchup

that didn’t help you much with the dash question though
