You can still have a center recovery point if you have a receiver hitch. D ring shackle kits for the receiver hitch are inexpensive and easy to find. Takes about 30 seconds to install or remove.

I think it looks like there might be enough room to fit one of them above the exhaust. The only problem may be the heat of the exhaust and then trying to put a strap on the tow hook.

My X came with neither a tow hook nor a trailer hitch. I put the hook on, but should have gone with the hitch. Not for towing purposes, but for a better recovery point. It seemed to me after I put the hook on that there was not a very secure way of attaching a strap or something on it like you would a d-ring because a strap could slip off the end of the open hook, especially from a pull from the wrong angle.

Dealer came up with one for me. And the bolts too. But, we're missing the frame insert to bolt it to. Also I haveto drill the holes on the side of the frame. About $40.00 for the hook with the bolts. Much better than the $130 something for the center one.
