Here are a couple pics of mine. 2009 OEM and I am original owner so I know there have been no changes.

My guess is that the female threaded piece is a double internal and external threaded adaptor and can be removed leaving a larger female threaded hole. It might be very tight since a fair amount of force could have been be applied if the old antenna was even slightly wrenched in place. Let us know the results.

The more I look at your photo, my conclusion is the same. The piece that looks like a female threaded little "island" can be unthreaded (carefully if you can get a grip on it or file two flats to use a wrench) then the original sized threaded opening will fit your antenna.

Oh, and thanks for everybody's input! I would have never thought it was an adapter because it was the same material as the rest of the mount.

Looks almost like the original threard were stripped out and that is some kind of cheap repair kit that you install and has a smaller end on it.

Well I'm glad my conclusion was correct. It was the only thing that made sense. It's good that you were able to remove that double threaded insert.
