In 2009 they added an extra latch to the center - front of the hard top. Can someone confirm that the windshield tie down loop was moved off center in 2009? I had read that somewhere.

In any case I would think it would fit from what I've seen you just might not be able to use the additional latching position.

Yes, they did move the loop from 2008 to 2009. I just put a 2008 soft top on my 2009 and had to grind away some plastic so it would seat properly.

Not the best picture, but you can see how far over the loop was shifted...

I've heard that a 2007 - 2008 hard top will fit on newer models (2009-2010) since the 2007 - 2008 hard top freedom panels didn't use a center loop as attach point anyway (i.e. only one latch on each, and they are the outer latches), however the 2009-2010 tops wouldn't fit an older model.

Again, this is just from hearsay and my research, but it seems logical to me I guess...

correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that latch useless with the softtop (the one in the picture) it is only in use with the hardtop correct?? Just curious why not just remove the latch instead of grind away at the plastic of your softtop? The latches removed pretty easily and it saves the soft-top header from looking as if a rat has been gnawing on it for a few weeks?

I have a 2009 hard top on my 2007 model. The center loop above the windshield is in the wrong location (dead center) and therefore I can not use the middle latch (off center) for the hard top. Therefor, I just leave it unlatched. Other than that, it fits fine. It's been on my jeep for a few months now and hasn't flown off yet.
