2010 Rubicon or 2012 X ???????
Looking to trade in my 2008 x for a newer model. I found a 2012 x (new) and a 2010 Rubicon (17k miles) that I am interested in. Can not decide which way to go. New motor (possible head issues) vs. lockers, D44, etc.
What do you think?
btw - This is not a mall crawler. I do "intermediate" trails now with the wife and 3 kids. Boys runs are a bit more challenging.
Thanks

If you want to get on the harder trails quicker I would go with the Rubi if not and you want to build it up then go with the 2012. I love my 2012 and its worth the wait to build it up to get on the harder trails.

I had the same debate on my hands a few months ago and went with a 2010 Rubi. Primarily because it gets a lot of wheeling time and I figured it was a better place to start and modify as opposed to having to build one from the ground up.

same question just over a month ago. I choose the 2010 rubi with 1800 miles for 10 grand less then a 2012 rubi. the 2010 was put into service on Nov. 20th 2011 so still have full warranty on it. I am not going over 35" tires so power was not a question and my wife only drives 7 miles to work. Left me with more mod money.

What is the price difference? if its the same price then obviously the 2012... the poster above said he got it 10k less than a 2012 Rubi (not sport so only 4k less than a sport? )... my 2012 sport JKU was 29k and I doubt you can find a 2010 JKU Rubi in good shape for 19k (but if you did BUY IT). I am biased b/c I have the 2012 but I think I would have to save at least 6 grand to drop down to the 2010 even with the rubi extras.

Again - 2010 rubi vs. 2012 x ??
Thanks

Since you have an X now, you know what it's capabilities are. That being said, I'd go for the 2012 Sport (X) every day of the week and twice on Sundays. The new motor is worth it, and the head issues are not as prevalent and the forums make them sound. You'll also be getting the revamped interior, which is much nicer.

If the 2012 has 3.73 gears I would take it in a heart beat over the 2010 Rubi if they are the same price. If I was a car dealer I would be doing back flips if someone took a 2010 off my hands for the same price as a 2012.

I figure that I can put a Super 44 kit in the rear, put a PR44 or Rock Jock 60 up front and still have room left over compared to a new Rubi. And after test driving the 12, I just did not feel a used Rubi was worth it at all, especially since I would end up moding the axles anyways and the reputation on the Rubi lockers is that they are too weak for 35" tires.

Just a side note on price, I picked my 2010 up with 24k miles for 20k with dal top group and certified. Not all dealers are out to rape the consumer price wise
