Default 2011 with 1,000 miles - ticking and major engine tear down

Well, my new 2011 Rubicon is at the dealership with a list of parts a mile long. Includes the head. I took it in for the ticking noise. Service adviser says won't know exactly happened until they get it apart.

So I guess the question based on past threads with this – should I prepare myself to try and have this vehicle bought back? I wouldn't mind having a new engine, but not the same one with this deep a repair.

Did you just buy it? If you have the opportunity to get out from under it, I would. Run from anything with the 3.8 and get a '12 with the 3.6. I personally don't feel the 3.8 is a good motor. I know that many people have no problems with them, and others are plagued, including myself.

I'm sorry, but burning a quart of oil every 1k miles and constant pinging are not signs of a quality and well engineered motor

I'm sorry to hear about your problems and hope they get resolved to your satisfaction

To lemon law it, it has to go in for the same repair 3 times before they will even consider taking it back.

I talked to the dealership to see what they would do. Told them a new engine might be ok, but not a tear-down of this one. I will report back on the outcome.

Head and valve replacements. Runs great so far. Sucks it happened to such a new vehicle, but like they say, sh*t happens.
