Default 2011 Locking Center Console

This Is for my OE center console, not aftermarket:

This seems like it should be straight forward... I close the center console, I turn the key (it does turn 90 degrees) I pull the key out, and it should be locked. But it isn't.

If I lock it while the console is open, and I close it will a little force, it locks just fine. Just seems like I'm going to break it this way.

Before I spend a half a day at the dealership... Is this normal or is mine just broken?

Thanks.

Mine locks fine too. I've only used it once or twice but it does work as good as my old TJ did.

Mine works but it seems to take more effort than it should. I don't force it but it does feel tight when it is closed.

Yup. Mine must be busted. My TJs worked just fine. I think I might rack up a few more miles and see what else goes wrong before I bring it in. Thanks guys.

Perfect use for those old 3x5 note cards. Toss one in the glove box. Note little problems as the arise. Mark them off if they go away then at about 10 months take it in for all the things that are still on the card.

Remember that 12 months is the end of warranty for 'adjustment' items and wear and tear items.

So I checked the latch this morning. The lock turned all the way when I had the console open, but seemed to have tension when it was closed. I pushed the arm rest forward while I turned the key and it worked. The latch isn't lined up perfectly and that is why it wasn't locking. I can go a little longer now before a trip to dealership!

Mine did this too, I had to give it a little extra effort and turn it just a little extra after it seemed like it was locked and it "clicked". After doing this for a few days it eventually started locking without the extra effort. Also, try and push down on the lida little while locking it. I hope that makes sense and hope it works for you.
