Default 2011 Navigation

Question

I am looking to get a 2011 jeep and the dealer called today and said they found one pretty much exactly like what I was looking for except it didn't have the navigation. I asked them well could you just order the nav in and install it? and they said it would be an additional 3500$ or so to do something like that becuase of the stuff they need to order and you don't get any money for the outgoing cd player.

Sound right or something kinda off there?

You think there might be a reason they are called Stealership by some people?

If you have $3500.00 or so to spend on audio. GO AFTERMARKET.

Tell them you really wanted it but you will go ahead and start looking elsewhere. Get what you want at a price you think is fair.

Ya that"s pretty much a no brainer. You can get some pretty high end stuff for that kind of loot!

For 2011, you have a couple of options for stereos. The Jeep you are thinking about has the Media Center 130 CD/MP3 radio with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Audio Jack. With Uconnect™ Voice Command with Remote USB Port, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, available on select models. This is included in the sticker price.

The other one is the Media Center 430N CD/DVD/MP3/HDD/NAV radio with 6.5-inch touch screen, 30GB hard drive (4,250 song capacity), Album Artwork, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Audio Jack, GarminŽ Navigation (N/A Voice Command), Uconnect™ Voice Command with Remote USB Port, available on select models.

Includes:
•6.5-Inch Touch-Screen Display
•Audio Jack Input for Mobile Devices
•GPS Navigation
•Hard Disc Drive
•Remote USB Port
(The N after the 430 tells you it has NAV)

This stereo $1,035.00 option when ordered.

So IF anyone wants to sale you something like that for $3,500.00 they are wacked! If you want to wait to have the NAV that comes with the 2011 Wrangler and it's what you want, then tell them to find someting else. IF you don't mind getting your own GPS and save alot of $$$.$$ then go with the Jeep they have and get your own GPS.

Although I really would be careful buying anything from a dealer who wanted to screw you over on such a stupid price for a stereo with NAV! Look elsewhere...

Good grief! You can get the best Garmin has to offer for 1/8 that price!

If you have to have NAV, I would wait for them to locate/order one with it already in it. $3500, not worth it to add. (most of that is over-calculating parts and install.)

I added MyGig/lockpick/camera to my 09. Since it wasn't until 2010 that they had the UConnect feature I am having a hell of a time getting a harness together to reach the A-Pillar microphone. I would not want to be the guinea pig putting Mygig into a 2011.

I have about 1200 into getting to where I am now. The Kenwood option would have been $2500+ and I wouldn't have been able to do it myself. Plus youre more likely to get an aftermarket radio stolen than a factory radio (in my opinion.)

Youre best bet is to get one with Nav, because you'll run into issues getting everything together.

Good luck.

I don't usually tell people what to spend their own money on... But, if you pay 3500 for a head unit you are a retard. That is crazy money. Go spend $1500 and get an eclipse installed. If you want a mygig, and can wait a couple months I am sure one will come along for under 1k on ebay or here. No way I would drop that coin. I could build a nice entire system and an ar15 for $3500.
