Default 2011 Rubicon 2 Door

Was wondering if anyone knew if it is OK to take off the front shock covers on the rubicon? Thought it would look a little better seeing the red shocks rather than the black platic cover.

I think he is talking about the plastic cover in front of that. It's kinda like a fender liner piece...not the part on the tube. I have been debating taking mine off too.

Thanks for the replies. I was talking about the "dust boot" on the shock itself. I know it is there to keep out contaminents but didn't know how important it is. Like you mentioned after market ones may not have these so figured I would get some opinions. Planning on replacing them soon anyway. Guess I will just have to wait till I get new ones.

Mine did not come with dust boots. I got robbed! Anyway, my experience is most of those shock boots are better at trapping contaminants in than keeping them out.

Good point. I am taking them off. Worst case I have to buy new ones. Just need an excuse anyway.
