Default 2012 limited power with a/c on

I have an 2012 JKU sport with 3.21 gears and 6sp manual. Was towing a light trailer with the ac on an incline and was surprise with the loss of power, felt like I was going to stall.

Have about 19000 miles on it now and never really noticed before but it it horrible starting off on a hill with ac on. Even with no trailer it's still gutless starting off on an incline. I don't believe I have the ticking head and was never replaced. Was curious if anyone else noticed or if I need to take it in to the dealer to look at.

I agree, I noticed power drop with AC as well, on brand new car... Wait, someone will say - it is Jeep, not suppose to have AC first place

Towing with 3.21 gears also has a bit to do with it. I dont notice much difference with or without but I have 4.10 gears.

Same here. I towed my heavy toyhauler through the shenendoah mountains last summer and didn't notice any issues towing with ac on. I'm actually heading back there again next weekend. I've got 32,000 on my 2012 JKU with 3.73 max tow package. Still original head. Runs strong with no ticks.

2012 6spd with 4.10s - I don't feel much of a loss with the a/c on, but when I tow I also let the gears wind out a little longer so there's very little loss of power when I upshift.

Of course you are going to loose some power to the wheels when the AC is on, the engine is now allotting power to drive the AC compressor...totally normal. If you want more power ditch the 3:21 gears or buy a real towing vehicle with a diesel
