2012 Rubicon intake valve hung open on #3
I have a 2012 Rubicon with 176K miles. I’ve owned it since about 85,000 miles and it has been 100% dead reliable.
A few weeks ago I started having a tick. I know it’s super common on these motors so I didn’t worry too much. Drove home just fine from work one day and the very next day. I start the Jeep and it’s only running on five cylinders, ticking sound is now gone.
Had a local mechanic shop take a look and they told me the intake valve for number three is hanging open ever so slightly. They quoted me “ at least “ $14,000 to put a new engine in it.
Reading between the lines, I am guessing this is their way of saying they don’t want to work on it.
Based on Their diagnosis is this a simple rocker arm and camshaft replacement?
