Default 2012 start up rattle.

Does anyone else hear a rattle behind the dash / rear of engine on cold start up for the first mile or so

On mine it was the A/C lines hitting part of the HVAC housing. I fixed it by grabbing the lines at the firewall, and moving them enough so they came to rest is a slightly different position. It's been quiet since.

I don't know if your 2012 is the same at the firewall, though.

same here, it may be that little plastic valve on the washer fluid hose under the hood vibrating on the plastic engine cover. it goes away so fast i cant get a chance to try much each time.

i wrapped that valve in foam yesterday. i barely heard it today.

next time its cold outside as i find i need it in the 30's ill try removing that plastic cover before i take off. that will confirm something is vibrating on it when it shrinks from the cold but stops vibrating once the hot plastic forms a tighter fit.

many many 2012 owners have the noise and most found its the plastic valve on the plastic engine cover

I had the same annoying vibrating sound that you described. Tried switching around the sprayer tubing.....nothing. Then, while I was installing some windshield lights, I noticed that the weatherstripping that you mentioned was off. I didn't think anything about it and just put it back in place. After a day or two, I noticed that the rattle was gone!! I thought that it just magically disappeared. Thanks for helping me up 2 and 2 together.
