Default 2013 jku 6-speed rattling noise poll

I am very concerned with this issue from following the original thread. I would like to request that those with 6-speed Manual Transmissions chime-in on this poll, and reply with mileages where rattling was first noticed.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

Default 6 speed issues

2010 JK 4 door
build Fall 2009
purchase Jan 2010

rattles in 3rd gear at all speeds - less under load

larger problem - 1st and 2nd sychronizers are rubbish. Very hard to shift into or out of 1st and 2nd. This is at summer temperatures. Gets much worse in cold weather. Near freezing it takes so long to get 2nd gear to engage, the Jeep has almost coasted to a stop.

Suggest you broaden this poll to include all years - 2007 to present.

I voted even though I had an 2008 6 speed with the rattle. The reason i got rid of my 2008 was do to the rattle. The dealer and Chrysler admitted it made noise, yet could not fix it. They pulled the tranny, did a new clutch, new t.o. bearing, messed with the shift boots, never got any better.

In the end the final word was "nothing wrong, these transmissions are noisy by design and they all do it"

I now drive an automatic jk, I don't care for autos, but I am happier because my trans does not sound like it is going to blow up.

Anyone got some audio of the rattle? My fourth gear sounds a bit different than all the rest and kind sounds like a rattling noise. Never paid much attention to it until this thread...

Mine started with about 150 miles on the clock. 2012 Sport w/6-speed. Same noise as in the YouTube video.

I got about 7000 km on my 2012 sport and I have no issues although I have noticed that 1st and 2nd are defiantly a harder shifting gear a bit clunkier than the rest

Many of the rattles, rumbles, ticks and vibrations associated with the JK's 6-speed are actually caused by the clutch throw-out bearing. I had a rattling slapping sound that would intermitently come from my '08 (particularly when cold) that sounded exactly like a bad big-end bearing & had me getting ready for an engine rebuild until I traced the sound back to the T/O bearing. 4 years & 55K miles later & it still does it now & again but doesn't have me too worried as I've had other manual vehicles in the past with noisey bearings; unless it starts squealing it should last until I replace the clutch in a few years anyway.
