Cool 2013 JKU Rubi Pinch Seams Done at Factory!

Hey everyone -

I just saw some news on FB about the pinch seams on a 2013 being pre-trimmed at the factory. I didn't know if this was the case... but I ran out to the garage and took a look at the 2013 I took delivery of last week and sure enough the seams are pre-trimmed!

I know this isn't anything major... but I'm happy I won't have to do any cutting/painting on the body of my brand new JK for a while. Thought I'd share the info as it was news to me!

Man, I'm jealous. I guess I'll have to do mine myself. Atleast Chrysler is paying attention to the Jeep Community.

For anyone that's curious, the end isn't capped/welded/sealed - they just stick some foam in it:

It is a clean cut and is painted... but they don't close it up.

Looks like the Rubicon slider is still the same length.

When I cut mine I saw the foam inside so that is the same. Looks like they must have done this before painting. I think I would still silicone this and seal it up to keep out the elements. Still easier then cutting and sealling, just seal.

I wonder though what kinds of problems can be had with getting stuff in there (besides maybe sand/salt from the beach)? Just possible rust points ?

What would you recommend sealing it with ?
