Default 2013 Unlimited Sport - No interior lighting when opening the doors???

I've had the Jeep since Friday and I have found it more than annoying that there are no 'automatic' interior lights that come on upon opening the doors.

Since this is a 'new to me' vehicle, and my first Wrangler, is this a by-design thing, or is this possibly a result of something the previous owner did?

Most likely a previos owner thing. Make sure all your door harnesses are plugged in. If they are out the Jeep thinks the doors are off and won't turn on the light.

You've tested they don't come on with any door opening right? Just confirming we're not talking an issue with 1 door. I can't recall if there is a program setting for this or not. Have you checked the appropriate fuse?

I have not not touched the harnesses but all 4 windows do roll up/down.

Center dome light does not come on at all unless it's manually turned on. Have not chased down a fuse issue. Was really an issue this morning when heading to work. I will look into this side of things this evening.

Well, since you can turn it on manually, wouldn't be a fuse issue then or else they wouldn't work at all. For some reason I want to say the open/closed status by controlled by the door latch itself, and I have a hard time thinking that every door latch is bad. And, since you haven't messed with the harnesses the odds of all the harnesses having an issue is slim too.

@ronjenx , do you have a thought on this electrical issue by chance?

Here are my driver side front and back door. No sensor to detect the door opening/closing to turn on/off the dome light.

I'm suggesting that function is built in to the actual door latch.....the other end of the door...the latch mechanism that is internal. I don't think that's it though since it doesn't seem to work with any of the doors.

I have no clue. I was beginning to think the Sport didn't have interior courtesy lights.

Oh, it does indeed have that function. Mine is a '13 sport. There's something preventing it. With your key in the ignition, not on, just in....does it ding when you open the door? It should ding and the info display should say "key in ignition"
