Default 2013 wrangler rust issue

Just happened to look under my new jeep and noticed several areas of rust. Mainly on the front. Has anyone else had this problem and were you able to get the dealer to fix it?. I live in Florida not even close to the beach. Never seen this on a new car?

if its on the body then ide get it looked at. If its on the frame / suspension pices etc then i wouldent worry about it. They are gonna rust some no matter what you do if it bugs you just touch em up with some rust converter or spray paint.

It's pretty normal to have surface rust on raw steel. It's usually on the drive shafts, steering knuckles and other parts that didn't get coated from the factory too well.

Invest in wire brushes and touch up paint. I had the same concern about mine but from what I can tell its just a JEEP Thing.

Surface rust is normal. Mine has rust on the C's Drive shafts suspension plus any area where I have bottomed out and scraped the underside.

Here are a few pics. I have never seen this on a new vehicle. Should the part be coated from the factory?

Pretty typical Jeep quality. Most of the under carriage parts tend to acquire surface rust immediately. Those should have been painted from the factory, but if they missed it they missed it. I'd just grab some rust convertor Rustoleom and spray it so it looks nice. Don't worry about it though as it won't change anything. It's solid steel and a little surface wont hurt it, not for another 20 years at least.

The dealer wont do anything about it and they'll think you're crazy lol

I have more rust than that on mine. Mine has never seen snow or salted roads.

Yeah, they SHOULD, but these bad boys get cranked out so fast on the assembly line that they usually go without. I totally feel your concern when you spend a lot of money on a vehicle only to find it rusty. You can crawl up under virtually any vehicle and find similar rust issues. If you want to paint it check out Eastwood Co. rust converter. They put out some good autobody/paint stuff.

I use picklex20 comes in a spray bottle. I just spray it on and the rust just seems to disappear ready for a touch up. go to there web site and check out there comparison to other products. Not cheap but worth it
