Default 2dr Soft top lowering Q?

On the bows (frames) of the soft top, i have a piece of plastic on each side that slides over a joint, effectively locking it straight. What is the purpose of said piece of plastic, an should it be locked when the top is, down, or both?

Also, with the soft top lowered, does your top drape in toward the cargo area or does it sit up on the frame nice and neat, not droopy? Pic perhaps.

is the piece of plastic that you are referring to above the doors? if so, that's part of the sunrider feature. If you slide the plastic pieces so they're not covering the joints, you can fold back just the part of the soft top that covers the front passengers. check these videos: http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/soft_t...oft_top_guide/

So if i fold the top down completely, should those pieces be locked or in the unlocked position?

Yes, you definitely want them unlocked unless you're using the sunrider. And as far as part 2 of your question, mine droops...doesn't stay perked up. I wish there was some sort of reinforcement rod going across to keep that from happening. I think a homebrew idea is in order.

I guess I got a weird top because when I fold it all the way down I need to unlock the sliding sleeves or it won't fold proper.

Watching the video he does leave them, but his top is not laying as well as mine does if I unlock them.

Uh, you wouldn't be able to use the sunrider portion if they are slid locked. I played around with them this afternoon, and i got a nice looking fold by leaving them locked.
