So...I picked up my new 2012 Wrangler last week. I was curious what a DIY oil change would involve. I'm still undecided/curious about the oil type, whether it should be 5w30 or 5w20, but I did find the oil filters (Purolator L36135) on Amazon Prime for $4.24 each.
Purolator L36135 Classic Oil Filter : Amazon.com : Automotive
This qualifies as the cheapest oil filter I've ever seen, between my last 3 vehicles ('09 Wrangler X 3.8, 2011 Camaro SS, and a 2009 Chevy Colorado w/ the 3.7)

Looks to be a good price for Purolators - I've heard good things.
Just scored 16 pack of Mopar MO-744s - price $ 3.56 but if you add the shipping they were $ 5.75
******
My next item will be Air filters - (i.e NAPA 9018 or WIX 49018).
Price per unit - $ 5.74

I just go to my stealership for the Mopar ones. $5, and change with tax. Brown Daub in Easton, PA. I wouldn't use their service department, but their parts are normally cheaper than the auto parts store.
